Came for bun bo hue with friends. It's apparently what they are known for. We all enjoyed our food, the service was nice and fast. Great quantity of everything, love how much vegetables they provide. I have nothing bad to say! It was delicious i would come give them a try.

* Price: cheaper than most Vietnamese restaurants in LA. Average for Garden Grove/Wesminster area. 4 stars (comparing to LA). * Ambiance: clean and nice decor. Spacious seating. 4 stars. * Location: small plaza on Magnolia. Plenty of free parking. There are other shops and restaurants nearby. 5 stars. * Meals: their specialty is central Vietnamese cuisine. They have everything from bún bò Huế (spicy beef pork hoc), bánh bèo to banh canh (rice cake seafood noodles) and mì quãng (dry noodles). Everything is very flavorful and good serving size. 5 stats. * Services: friendly and attentive. The lady who took our orders gave us good suggestion on their special dishes. 5 stars. Took my brother here for his Vietnamese food adventure on his birthday. We were craving for central vietnamese food. The restaurant was busy but not packed. We got seated right away. The menu is extensive with many dishes from Central Vietnam... we feel like kids in candy store! Thanks to the lady of the house and her recommendation, we ordered large spicy beef soup (bún bò Huế), a plate of steam rice cakes (bánh bèo), glutinous rice caks (bánh ít kẹp bánh ram), and pennywort drinks (nước rau má). - a large spicy beef soup ($14): a large bowl, enough to share. They gave us small bowl to share. Savory flavor with pork hocks, pork sausage, pork blood cake, thin slides of beef shanks are served with mints, bean sprouts, shredded banana flowers and shredded cabbage. So good! - a plate of 10 steam rice cakes ($14): a small cup of steam rice cakes, crispy pork skin, mung bean paste, shrimp floss, scallion oil and fried shallots. The sweet and spicy fish sauce is for pouring to the cup then everything can be scooped out. It is a perfect mix of sweet and savory! - glutinous rice cake ($14 for 4): the last time I had this dish was in Hoi An, vietnam. Steam chewy dumpling with shrimp and pork stuffing sits on top of crispy rice cake and dipped in sweet and spicy fish sauce. Each cake is huge. Each one of us was full after one cake! - pennywort drinks (rau ma): it is very grassy and organic, and acquired taste. It is supposed to be good for digestion, blood pressure and antioxidants. We really enjoyed our experience here and definitely will come back to try other dishes.

My takeout experience at Ngu Binh was great! I used to come to Ngu Binh, but stopped for a while. Now, I'm back to my favorite place for Bun Bo Hue and Banh Bot Loc! You can only order the large size ($14.95) of Bun Bo Hue for takeout. This is large enough for me and my hubby to share. The only thing that was lacking is the amount of soup, I wish they gave more. The Banh Bot Loc ($13.95) is one of the best I've had and I always get an order of it when I come here. All of my items were packed nicely. The phone order was easy. They answer the phone speaking Vietnamese, but once they hear you speak English, they will adjust and take your order in English. Parking can be a nightmare here, I advise coming earlier in the morning (before 10am) on the weekends.

Went with the large Bun Bo Hue without the pork hock. They did replace that with an extra pork sausage piece. Round noodles were cooked to perfection! Broth was on point. Too bad you there aren't any additional sauces for dipping.

Honestly, what is there not to like about this place? Plenty of parking, plenty of seating. The restaurant feels like a typical Vietnamese restaurant. We ordered bun bo hue, Vietnamese iced coffee, and banh it kep banh ram. I was so excited to try the banh it ram because I've never had it before and I don't think it's a common dish? Needless to say, it was good! Chewy, mochi consistency steamed dumpling filled with pork and shrimp on top of a crispy glutinous rice cake. Service was quick and attentive. They gave my toddler a free bowl of bun bo hue soup (no spicy) with noodles- oh he loved it. The bun bo hue lacked spice but good thing they have a jar of spicy chili oil on the table. I appreciate all the vegetables & herbs they gave us to go with our noodle soup. It's the biggest and most generous plate of herbs & vegetables I've ever been given for my noodle soup! It consisted of bean sprouts, lettuce, banana blossom, mint, and Vietnamese coriander. The Vietnamese iced coffee was okay; thank goodness it wasn't a strong mocha flavor. Overall, we had a great experience and can't wait to come back to try other things.

Don't let the overall 3.5 stars discourage you from trying Ngu Binh. I'm unsure why it has a 3.5 star rating honestly. I went to Ngu Binh on a Saturday afternoon to have lunch and there were some tables available. I got to pick where I wanted to sit and the waitress came and took my order quickly without wasting any time. She also checked on me as well while I was eating. I got bun bo hue, their specialty. It was flavorful and had a ton of meat in there. I was offered a bunch of veggies to top up with. The bowl of noodles was good. So again, why the 3.5?

This is my go-to place for Bun Bo Hue (the only place I loveee from oc & la). The bun bo hue's broth was so rich and flavorful. The broth itself was light & SPICY how I love it. The meat was cooked to perfection and the pork blood added was *chefs kiss*. My mom does not cook bun bo hue at home so finding a place where they cook it to perfection makes me saur happy!!! :-) Ngu Binh is one of the more authentic Vietnamese restaurants in OC and I am a sucker for finding authentic Vietnamese food places heheh! The workers are also super friendly and service was faster than I expected. I will be back soon, I'm still thinking about the yummy broth :-)

Been wanting to try the BBH and banh it ram from here and they did not disappoint. The BBH was incredibly delicious. The broth was rich, noodles and meats were plenty and cooked to perfection, and it was SPICY. The banh it ram was so good too. The tasty pork and shrimp filling inside the chewy dough on top of the contrast crunchy layer was so good. Don't forget a healthy drench of their sweet and spicy fish sauce too. Service was so friendly. Like seriously the nicest of any Vietnamese restaurant. They offered our son a small bowl of noodles and non spicy BBH soup on the house. He devoured it. Everyone was so nice and attentive. It's a really clean and spacious restaurant with lots of parking on a weekday. This is my new go-to Hue spot in the area. Wonderful experience all around!
